The whole week leading up to this photoshoot, the mountains of Kauai were blanketed by clouds, creating an air of mystery over the island. But as if nature itself knew the importance of this day, the morning of their photoshoot dawned clear. The clouds parted to reveal the breathtaking peaks, lush green valleys, and that iconic Hawaiian beauty that takes your breath away. It was as if the mountains had been saving their most stunning display just for us.
N+B’s journey had been nothing short of magical. Exactly one week earlier, they said “I do” in the enchanting redwoods of Woodside, California, at The Mountain Terrace. Their wedding was a masterpiece—intimate, elegant, and filled with the kind of love that made every guest feel like they were part of something extraordinary. As their photographer, I was honored to capture not just their wedding day but also the milestones leading up to it, from their engagement photos to this Kauai honeymoon session.
After their wedding, N+B flew to Kauai to celebrate the start of their married life with a honeymoon in Princeville. Nestled on the island's lush North Shore, Princeville is a serene and luxurious retreat, offering some of the most stunning views on the island. It’s the perfect place to unwind, and they couldn’t have picked a more romantic spot to soak in the beauty of Hawaii.
One of the highlights of photographing N+B was their effortless connection. After spending time with them during their engagement and wedding day, I knew this session would be something special. Kauai added its own magic to the mix, with its golden beaches, vibrant greenery, and breathtaking mountain vistas. We started their session early in the morning to catch the best light. The location we chose offered a little bit of everything—golden sand beaches, swaying palm trees, and those stunning mountains as a backdrop. As the sunlight streamed through the trees and danced across the water, N+B walked hand in hand along the shoreline. They seemed more in love than ever, their connection deepened by the vows they had exchanged just days before.
One of my favorite parts of this session was how relaxed and playful it felt. After the structure of a wedding day, where timelines and traditions often take precedence, a honeymoon session offers so much room for spontaneity. At one point, B surprised N with a bouquet of tropical flowers he had picked up that morning. Her face lit up as he handed them to her, and I captured the sweetest candid moment of her wrapping her arms around him in gratitude.
This shoot reminded me why I love honeymoon sessions so much. They’re a chance to capture couples in a way that’s unguarded and intimate. The wedding day often goes by in a blur, with so many people and details to focus on. But during a honeymoon session, there’s no rush, no audience, and no pressure. It’s just two people, newly committed to each other, enjoying the simple joy of being together.
For N+B, this session was about more than just photos—it was about preserving a piece of their honeymoon experience. One day, they’ll look back on these images and remember the sound of the waves, the feeling of the warm sun on their skin, and the love they felt for each other in those early days of their marriage.
As a wedding photographer, it’s always my goal to tell a complete story through my images. With N+B, I had the unique opportunity to document so many chapters of their journey—from their engagement to their wedding day and now their honeymoon. It felt like a full-circle moment, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have been part of it.
By the end of the session, N+B were beaming—not just from the tropical sun but from the pure joy of spending time together in such an incredible place. It was a perfect way to wrap up their wedding celebrations and begin this new chapter of their lives.
As I packed up my gear, I couldn’t help but feel lucky to do what I do. Photographing couples during these milestones is always special, but sessions like this—where the love, the location, and the energy all align—are unforgettable. Thank you, N+B, for letting me be part of such a meaningful chapter in your story. Here’s to many more adventures ahead!
